Letter to Residents

Vote for Change in Ward 151

Dear Residents,

The next BBMP election has been announced and the dates will be known soon. We can fulfil many of our civic needs through our Corporator if he/she is our true elected representative. We suggest some actions to further improve our Ward:
1.    If you are an eligible voter, confirm that your name is in voters’ list.
2.    If not in the voters’ list, enrol as a voter.
3.    Your vote counts. Please vote.
Election contact point is in the 5th Block Ward Office, Mangala Kalyana Mantapa, 20th Main, 5th
Block, Koramangala. It is open except on Mondays.

We are committed to the following action plan to ensure that our votes will have value:
1.    Prepare a ward manifesto stating what we expect from the person we vote for.
2.    State our expectation that all candidates will conduct their election campaigns with honesty and transparency.
3.    Learn about every candidate’s background, achievements and contributions.
4.    Invite the candidates for debates.
5.    With an informal poll before the elections, choose a candidate whom we can trust to work for the ward and be our voice in the local government.
6.    Support a person with integrity and capability – irrespective of party affiliations. By expressing our support, make an honest and capable person feel confident to contest.
7.    Form a citizen’s council for the ward which will:
•    Interact regularly with the selected candidate.
•    Make the Corporator accountable to us - the citizens of the ward.
•    Monitor municipal expenditure, progress and quality of works in the ward, besides communicating our needs to the Corporator.
We request you to join us in this process as a citizen, a potential candidate or ward council member.  Together we can achieve a more honest, effective and representative ward government. As we work out detailed action plans, we shall inform you and also approach you for help and cooperation.
This campaign does not represent any political party or person and is enabled by citizens' voluntary contributions in time, cash and kind.

Thanking you,
The Koramangala SmartVotes Campaign
